In this post you’ll discover the bible verses about friendship I’ve used to build strong relationships with my best friends.
In fact:
These scriptures helped me rebuild broken friendships when times got tough in my life.
I hope they help you as well.
Let’s get started.

One of my favorite bible verses about friendship comes from Proverbs 13:20:
"Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm."
This verse is a simple reminder that I am a product of the people I surround myself with. If I want to grow personally and spiritually I need to nurture friendships with people that have similar goals.
However, that also means I must carefully end friendships that hold me back.
This means distancing myself from unreliable friends and walking away from broken friendships. Even when I’m going through hard times or feel lonely, I must always remember that I have Jesus as my savior.
"Do to others as you would have them do to you."
"A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity."
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves."
"Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."
"Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ."
"There are "friends" who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother."
"Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow, and his belt."
"A perverse person stirs up conflict, and a gossip separates close friends."
"Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it."
"Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character."
"Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture."
"Elijah said to Elisha, 'Stay here; the LORD has sent me to Bethel.' But Elisha said, 'As surely as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you.' So they went down to Bethel."
"When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him."
"One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."
"Listen to advice and accept discipline, and at the end you will be counted among the wise."
"The wise prevail through great power, and those who have knowledge muster their strength."
"Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person, do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared."
"Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone? A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken."
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."
"Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses."
"My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you."
"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."
"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."
"The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray."
"My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend."
Friendship is one of the greatest gifts we can be given in our lifetime. However, it is not a free gift. Long lasting friendships require empathy, effort and consistency. But I believe the rewards of friendship are well worth the effort.
I hope these bible verses about friendship help you appreciate the friends you have in your life. If you have a friend you’ve lost contact with, maybe today is the day you should pray for them.
Then, send that person a text and let them know that you are grateful for their friendship.
You might be surprised what happens next!
And now I’d like to hear from you:
