A good online dating profile is important to help you get the attention of your potential date. Your bio should be creative and memorable.
Simply put, the goal of your dating profile is to get a swipe, match, or message.
These examples of dating profiles will help you create a high converting about me section for your bio. You want to attract your soulmate and put your best foot forward – hopefully these ideas will help you do just that!
I’m a server at an awesome Mexican restaurant downtown. I just took a trip to Svalbard, which is the arctic circle. It was so cold there that my hair froze and turned white!
I volunteer with the Army reserves every month, because it’s important for me to give back to the community and serve our country.
Send me a message and I’ll tell you the craziest country I’ve been to.
Have you been to the most exclusive speakeasy in town? I’m a bartender there.
My favorite cocktail is a Sidecar and I’d love to make you one. On Friday nights I enjoy grabbing tacos from the sketchy food truck on 5th avenue.
Every week I volunteer at the local food bank because when I was a kid my family fell on hard times. Now I’m passionate about giving back.
Let’s chat and I’ll tell you the secret password to the bar.
I’m a construction worker that loves to cook. I learned to cook from my grandmother, who was an amazing woman and taught me how to make her famous meatballs.
She taught me everything she knew, and now I love cooking for people! It’s the best feeling knowing that someone is enjoying what you made them.
Did your heart skip a beat when you saw my photo? Don’t worry, I’m a nurse!
I like to be goofy and make people laugh. I love spicy food, and I don’t like to follow the rules. I also love pushing the boundaries of my nursing degree by learning about new technology that will help patients in the future!
I’m always looking for new ways to make people feel better; my passion is making sure everyone around me is healthy and happy.
I hope I’m on your list of things to pick up today!
Hi, my name is Jimmy. I’m a grocery store cashier at the “fancy” grocery store in town and a soccer player in my spare time. I coach kids' soccer, too!
I really love being outside all day long, whether that means running around the parking lot chasing down grocery carts or kicking a ball on the field with my friends and their kids. I’ve been playing soccer for about ten years now, so it’s just part of who I am.
p.s. I don’t care how many items you’ve got in your cart, I could check you out all day long!
I work at a clothing store by day and train as a triathlete by night.
The only thing I love more than clothes is triathlons. The only thing I love more than triathlons is volunteering at the food bank.
I volunteer at the food bank on Sundays, which is how I was first introduced to the program Feeding America, which I am a board member of.
I love being active and exploring new places through hiking, biking, running or any other type of adventure activity.
I’m not into cold-call sales, but I’d love to have your number. ;)
As a sales person, I love talking to people about their lives and interests over the phone! It makes me happy when we can find a solution for someone’s problem or make them laugh with a funny joke.
In my free time, I like to go on adventures in my custom camper van (aka “van life”). I’ve traveled all around North America and it has been such an amazing experience that has changed who I am as a person.
I love taking pictures and documenting life as it happens.
I am a fun loving, hard working, down to earth person that is always striving to learn and grow in life. I enjoy skydiving, hiking, and dancing. I work as an Administrative Assistant because it helps me to be able to support myself, but also develop my skills for the future.
My name is Randy. I work in manufacturing, and I’m making a documentary about military veterans. I travel around the country helping them get their stories out to the public. I’m currently making a documentary on one of our nation’s great heroes.
Hi, my name is Julie. I work as a medical assistant and love to make Italian food every chance I get. I traveled all the way to Italy just to eat Tiramisu!
Now I’m teaching myself how to prepare it in the comforts of my own home by watching videos on YouTube. When I’m not cooking, you can usually find me on my porch swing reading or socializing with friends.
Can I be your love mechanic? Because I am not afraid to get down and dirty.
I’ve been a mechanic for over 10 years now and love tinkering with engines. However, when it comes time to race the clock or test my endurance against the best in the world, you’ll find me at the starting line of a marathon.
In my free time, I volunteer with charities that do work in the developing world.
One of my favorite projects was building an orphanage in rural Kenya. It’s not easy to get there - but it’s worth it when you see how happy they are and what we’ve done for them!
Hi there! My name is Joe, and I work as a carpenter. I love fishing! It’s my favorite hobby.
When I’m not at work or out on the water, you’ll find me volunteering to help keep everyone safe with the volunteer fire department.
I may be just one guy, but that doesn’t stop me from making an impact in this world!
Is it just me or are there actual sparks between the two of us? ;)
I am an outgoing person who works as an electrician and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity.
I love to hunt and explore the woods, but my favorite pastime is sitting around a campfire with friends telling stories of ghost sightings and UFO encounters.
I’m a hard worker who does what needs to be done without complaining. I have a dry sense of humor that helps me cope with the often-harsh realities of life in rural America.
Send me a message and we can “spark” up a conversation.
Your beauty deserves likes, shares, comments, and more. ;)
I’m a marketing professional by day and horse trainer on the weekends. I volunteer at my local food bank as often as possible to help those in need.
My favorite thing about working with people is that it never feels like work, even when I am stuck inside on a Friday night sorting out donations for the weekend.
Volunteering at the food bank has given me an opportunity to meet some of my community’s most vulnerable members and serve them through one of their most basic needs: food.
Do you know how fast you were going when you fell from heaven? ;)
Hi, I’m a police officer that also reviews movies online. I love what I do because it allows me to help people and make a difference in their lives. One of my favorite parts of being a cop is catching criminals and putting them behind bars!
I enjoy volunteering as an after school mentor for kids who need someone to talk to or want some extra help with homework. It’s so rewarding seeing these kids succeed!
Send me a message and maybe we’ll meet up for some under-cover work.
Do you believe in love at first sight or should I drive by again?
My name is Joe. I’m a truck driver and a golfer who has 2 kids.
I’ve been driving trucks for about 10 years now, and it’s been one of the best decisions I ever made. It’s great because you get to meet people from all over the country while you’re on the road, which makes each day different.
I started playing golf when I was in my twenties, but it wasn’t until recently that I really got into it! My son introduced me to this new way of life, and now we play every chance we get!
Send me a message and I might let you blow my horn!
Do you have a lawyer? Because you just stole my heart.
Hi, I am a lawyer and a basketball player. I have a podcast that talks about the law, sports, and life. It’s called “The Law and the Court.”
I love talking to other lawyers from all over the country about their careers, what they do in their spare time, and how they juggle it all as busy professionals.
I’ve played basketball for years and enjoy it just as much now as when I was in high school.
p.s. If I were on a jury I’d find you guilty of being criminally gorgeous. ;)
Hey there! My name is Jeff, I work at a tech startup in downtown San Francisco.
I love to explore the local beer scene, and have been known to try just about every California microbrew, especially when visiting one of the many local breweries.
Let’s connect!
A hardworking and friendly firefighter who is recently divorced and eager to meet your mother.
I’m sensitive. I take pride in my appearance. I’m trustworthy, loyal and independent. And I have broad shoulders.
I’m hoping to find a sweet lady who loves artisanal pastries… or at least is open-minded about them. Someone fun and family-oriented who is looking for her best friend as much as a partner.
Research shows people are overwhelmingly looking for authenticity on dating apps.
The more you include in your bio to showcase your true personality, the easier it will be to get swipes, likes, or matches and start a great conversation.
Tinder has a 500 character limit on profile bios. That’s about 100 words or 8 sentences.
If you’re struggling to figure out what to write in your bio, 8 sentences can seem like a novel. But it’s really not that much.
I recommend a 4-part profile template.
Your bio should start with a headline that captures someone’s attention.
Then, you’ll need to build interest to keep them hooked.
Next, we’ll use specific words to generate a desire within them to learn more about you, and finally, we’ll include a call to action.
Dating profile template tips:
The best profiles have content that reflects genuine interest in the individual and show their personality.
They’ll mention what they like to do for fun and include at least one photo of themselves doing said activity.
The key ingredient for any successful dating profile is truthfulness coupled with enthusiasm about life.
In order to have good headlines for dating profiles, the profile should be entertaining and unique.
Oftentimes this is accomplished by telling a story about anything from how you came up with your username to what happened the one time you went out of state.
Keeping future partners entertained is important so they know they want to stick around long enough to learn what’s on your list of favorite books or come watch your karaoke performance - that is if you’re into those things.
One more thing: without a great headline, a person probably won’t even click on it in the first place!
It all comes down to the few words that will make it stand out from among hundreds of other profiles. It’s about making sure you mention what makes you special, not what you are looking for.
Be specific! Don’t say “looking for my other half” or “ready to meet my partner-in-crime.” That is too vague and doesn’t tell the other person anything except that you want a relationship.
Mention your likes, dislikes, hobbies, interests - anything that might help pepper clues to who you are on your profile.
Start by thinking of your keywords - what do people usually ask about when they first meet you?
There’s no one set of guidelines you can follow when it comes to dating profiles. However, if you know where to start, you can be well on your way to writing a great profile and attracting meaningful connections.
You may never find love in your area if your dating profile isn’t catching anyone’s attention, so don’t underestimate the impact that a quality dating profile can have on your chances of finding love online.
A good dating profile bio can be the difference between swiping left or landing a date. Still, it can be hard to know just what to write to stand out in a crowd of users.
These ideas should give you plenty of inspiration to get started. Hopefully they can also get you a little closer to that first date!
